Pteranodon ingens 1 Pteranodon ingens is a species of pterosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 85-80 million years ago. It was one of the largest pterosaurs, with an estimated wingspan of up to 10 meters (33 feet). Its long, narrow skull was well adapted for soaring, and its large eyes may have helped it spot prey from great distances. Its long, curved beak was probably used to catch fish and other small prey. Pteranodon ingens is known from fossils found in North America, including Kansas, Wyoming, and South Dakota.
