Sceliphron curvatum Sceliphron curvatum, commonly known as the yellow-and-black mud dauber, is a species of solitary wasp found in North America. It is a type of mud dauber, which builds its nest out of mud. The female wasp collects mud from the ground and builds a nest in sheltered areas, such as under eaves or inside hollow logs. The nest consists of several cells, each of which contains a single egg and a single prey item, usually a spider. The female wasp seals the cell and moves on to the next cell. When the eggs hatch, the larvae feed on the prey item and then emerge as adults.
