Stigmella calceolariae 1 Stigmella calceolariae is a species of moth of the Nepticulidae family. It is found in North America, where it has been recorded from California, Colorado, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Quebec, Texas, and West Virginia. The wingspan is about 6 mm. Adults are on wing from April to October. The larvae feed on Acer rubrum, Acer saccharinum, Acer saccharum, Acer spicatum, and Acer pensylvanicum. They mine the leaves of their host plant. The mine has the form of a linear or contorted, transparent blotch mine on the underside of the leaf.
