Stigmella generalis 2 Stigmella generalis is a species of moth in the family Nepticulidae. It is found in North America, where it has been recorded from Alberta, British Columbia, California, Colorado, Idaho, Maine, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. The habitat consists of boreal and montane forests. The wingspan is about 5.5–7 mm. Adults are on wing from May to August. The larvae feed on Populus species, including Populus tremuloides. They mine the leaves of their host plant. The mine has the form of a slender, winding corridor, filled with frass. The larvae are yellowish-green.
