Zosterops emiliae 1 Zosterops emiliae, also known as the Black-fronted White-eye or the Black-fronted Zosterops, is a species of bird in the family Zosteropidae. It is endemic to Indonesia, specifically the regions of Sumatra, Java, and Bali. This small bird is typically about 11-12 cm in length. It has a distinctive black "mask" on its face, with a white or pale yellow body. The Black-fronted White-eye is usually found in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. Like other white-eyes, Zosterops emiliae is a social bird, often seen in flocks. Its diet primarily consists of nectar, fruits, and insects. Not much is known about its breeding habits, but it is believed to breed throughout the year, with both parents caring for the young. Currently, the Black-fronted White-eye is listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List, as it has a large range and does not appear to be experiencing significant population declines. However, habitat loss due to deforestation could pose a threat in the future.
