jed henry 2 Henry II (5 March 1133 – 6 July 1189) was King of England from 1154 until his death in 1189. He was the first of the Plantagenet dynasty, which ruled England for over 300 years. Henry was the son of Geoffrey of Anjou and Matilda, daughter of Henry I of England. He was also the grandson of William the Conqueror. Henry was known for his military prowess and for his successful reign. He was also an effective administrator and was responsible for the development of common law. He was also known for his quarrels with Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury, which ultimately led to Becket"s death. Henry II was succeeded by his son, Richard I.
