Threads-TV series Threads is a British television drama serial jointly produced by the BBC, Nine Network and Western-World Television Inc. Written by Barry Hines and directed by Mick Jackson, it was first broadcast on BBC2 on 23 September 1984. It follows the lives of two families, the Kemps and the Becketts, in the English city of Sheffield during a nuclear attack and its aftermath. The serial was the first of its kind to depict the direct effects of a nuclear strike on the United Kingdom.
