Mayaponera constricta Mayaponera constricta is a species of ant in the genus Mayaponera. It is found in tropical forests in Central and South America. The species is most commonly found in the Amazon rainforest, but has also been recorded in Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil. It is a small ant, measuring around 2.5 millimeters in length. The body is black, with yellowish-brown legs and antennae. The head and thorax are covered in fine hairs, and the abdomen has a series of yellowish-brown spots. The species is a ground-dwelling ant, and is most commonly found foraging in leaf litter. It feeds on small insects and other arthropods.
