It is a medium-sized gibbon with a black or dark brown fur, and it has a white or yellowish-white beard and a white or yellowish-white tail. Its diet consists mainly of fruit, leaves, and insects. It is an arboreal species and spends most of its time in the trees, where it moves by brachiation. It is threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation due to deforestation and agricultural expansion.
