Rhizostoma pulmo Rhizostoma pulmo, commonly known as the barrel jellyfish, is a species of jellyfish found in the Mediterranean Sea and parts of the Atlantic Ocean. It is the largest jellyfish species in the Mediterranean, with a bell diameter of up to 90 cm (35 in). Its bell is barrel-shaped and usually pale blue-white in color, with four clusters of long, thin tentacles. The bell is covered in small bumps and its mouth is located in the center of the underside. The barrel jellyfish feeds on plankton and small fish, using its tentacles to capture prey.
