Giganotosaurus 2 Giganotosaurus was a large carnivorous dinosaur that lived during the late Cretaceous period, approximately 97 to 89 million years ago. It was one of the largest land predators ever to have existed, measuring up to 12 meters (40 feet) in length and weighing up to 8 tons. It had a long, narrow skull and a powerful jaw with sharp, serrated teeth. Its front legs were shorter than its hind legs, and it had a long, stiff tail. It is believed to have been a fast and agile predator, capable of chasing down its prey over long distances.
