Baryonix 1 Baryonyx is a genus of theropod dinosaur that lived in what is now Europe during the Early Cretaceous period, about 130–125 million years ago. It was a large carnivore, measuring up to 9 m (30 ft) long. Its most distinctive feature was a long, narrow snout with a crocodile-like jaw. It was probably an active predator, hunting fish and other small animals. Its skull was wide and flat, with a triangular crest on the top. Its forelimbs were relatively short compared to its hind limbs, and its tail was long and slender.
