Albertosaurus 3 Albertosaurus was a large carnivorous dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, about 70 to 65 million years ago. It was a member of the tyrannosaur family, and was closely related to the more famous Tyrannosaurus rex. Albertosaurus was a bipedal predator, measuring up to 8 meters (26 feet) in length and weighing up to 1.5 tonnes (3,300 lbs). Its skull was long and flat, with large, sharp teeth. It had short, powerful arms with two-fingered hands, and long, muscular legs. Its tail was stiffened by ossified tendons, which helped it balance while running.
