It is the third installment in the Ice Age franchise and the sequel to Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006). The film was directed by Carlos Saldanha, co-director of the first two films, and features the voices of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, and Simon Pegg. The story has Sid (Leguizamo) stealing some dinosaur eggs which leads to him, Manny (Romano), Diego (Leary), and the rest of the herd coming into the possession of a female Tyrannosaurus named Momma (Latifah) who is determined to protect her family at all costs. The film was released on July 1, 2009 and grossed over $886 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing animated film of 2009 and the highest-grossing film in the Ice Age franchise.
