The cartoon stars Donald Duck in a nightmare setting in which he is forced to work in a Nazi munitions factory. The title is a reference to the Nazi salute "Heil Hitler!" (German: "Heil Hitler!"). The cartoon was directed by Jack Kinney and features a musical score by Oliver Wallace. The song "The Fuhrer"s Face" was written by Oliver Wallace and Sammy Timberg, and was performed by Spike Jones and his City Slickers. The song was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song.
