The film stars Ewan McGregor, Pierce Brosnan, Olivia Williams, Kim Cattrall, and Tom Wilkinson. The screenplay was written by Polanski and Robert Harris, based on Harris" novel The Ghost. The film follows a ghostwriter (McGregor) hired to complete the memoirs of a former British prime minister (Brosnan). The project soon turns treacherous when the ghostwriter uncovers secrets that put his own life in danger. The Ghost Writer was released in the United States on February 19, 2010, and in the United Kingdom on March 19, 2010. It was well-received by critics and was nominated for three César Awards and two BAFTA Awards.
