Thanos 3 Thanos is a fictional character from the Marvel Comics universe. He was created by writer Mike Friedrich and writer-artist Jim Starlin, first appearing in Iron Man #55 in February 1973. Thanos is one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel universe. He is an Eternal, a race of superhuman beings, and was born on Saturn"s moon Titan. Thanos is characterized by his purple skin, large muscular body, and his obsession with death and destruction. His main goal is to obtain the Infinity Stones, six gems of immense power that can control different aspects of the universe. He believes that by collecting all six, he can wipe out half of all life in the universe, bringing balance and ending suffering. Thanos is known for his intelligence and his mastery of various forms of combat. He is also incredibly resilient, able to withstand immense amounts of damage and recover from injuries that would kill other beings. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thanos is portrayed by actor Josh Brolin. His quest for the Infinity Stones forms the main plot of the Avengers series of films, culminating in the events of "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame". Despite his villainous nature, Thanos is a complex character with a warped sense of morality. He truly believes that his actions are necessary for the survival of the universe, and is willing to sacrifice everything, including his own adopted daughter, to achieve his goals.
