It stars Bette Davis as Margo Channing, a highly regarded but aging Broadway star. Anne Baxter plays Eve Harrington, an ambitious young fan who insinuates herself into Channing"s life, ultimately threatening Channing"s career and her personal relationships. The film also features Celeste Holm, George Sanders, Hugh Marlowe, Barbara Bates, Gary Merrill, and Thelma Ritter. All About Eve won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor for George Sanders. It was also nominated for Best Actress (Bette Davis), Best Supporting Actress (Celeste Holm), and Best Supporting Actress (Thelma Ritter). The film was selected in 1990 for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
