Team Fortress 2 1 Team Fortress 2 is a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter developed and published by Valve Corporation. It is the sequel to the 1996 mod Team Fortress for Quake and its 1999 remake, Team Fortress Classic. It was released in October 2007 as part of The Orange Box video game bundle for Windows and Xbox 360. A PlayStation 3 version followed in December 2007 when The Orange Box was ported to the system. The game is distributed online through Valve"s digital retailer Steam, with retail distribution being handled by Electronic Arts. In Team Fortress 2, players join one of two teams comprising nine character classes, battling in a variety of game modes including capture the flag and king of the hill. The game"s character classes are divided into three groups: offense, defense, and support. Players gain experience points by completing in-game objectives or killing enemy players. Experience points are used to level up and unlock new weapons, cosmetics, and other items.
