It is the third installment of the Splinter Cell series endorsed by American author Tom Clancy. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and Nintendo DS in March 2005. The plot follows protagonist Sam Fisher as he is assigned to investigate a series of attacks by a group of terrorists, and his pursuit of information from a high-ranking official. The game is based on the Unreal Engine 2.0 and features improved graphics and physics.
