UEFA EURO 2008 1 UEFA EURO 2008 was the 13th edition of the UEFA European Championship, the quadrennial international men"s football championship of Europe organized by UEFA. It took place in Austria and Switzerland from 7 June to 29 June 2008. Spain won the tournament, defeating Germany 1–0 in the final. Spain were only the second nation to win all their group stage fixtures and then the European Championship itself - an accomplishment matched by France in 1984. It was also the first time that a European Championship final was won by a team which had not won its group.
