Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag 6 Assassin"s Creed IV: Black Flag is an action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It is the sixth major installment in the Assassin"s Creed series, a sequel to 2012"s Assassin"s Creed III. The game was released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and Microsoft Windows in October 2013, and for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2013. The game follows the centuries-old struggle between the Assassins, who fight for peace with free will, and the Templars, who desire peace through control. The framing story is set in the 21st century and features series protagonist Desmond Miles who, with the aid of a machine known as the Animus, relives the memories of his ancestors to find a way to avert the 2012 apocalypse. The game is set primarily on and around the islands in the Caribbean Sea during the Golden Age of Piracy in the early 18th century, and follows notorious pirate Edward Kenway, grandfather and father of Assassin"s Creed III protagonist Ratonhnhaké:ton and Assassin"s Creed Rogue protagonist Shay Cormac, respectively.
