Carcharhinus sealei Carcharhinus sealei, commonly known as the blacktip reef shark, is a species of requiem shark, in the family Carcharhinidae. It is found in the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region, from the eastern coast of Africa to the western coast of Central America. The blacktip reef shark is a small species, typically reaching a maximum length of 1.6 m (5.2 ft). It has a slender, streamlined body with a long, pointed snout and large eyes. Its back and sides are grey to brownish-grey in color, and its underside is white. The blacktip reef shark has a distinct black tip on the dorsal fin and the first few dorsal fin spines.
