Nothrotheriidae 2 The Nothrotheriidae family includes extinct ground sloths that lived during the Pleistocene epoch. They were large, herbivorous mammals with long claws and a sloth-like appearance. Some well-known members of this family include the giant ground sloth (Megatherium) and the Harlan"s ground sloth (Paramylodon). These animals were adapted to a herbivorous diet and likely spent much of their time browsing for vegetation in the forests and grasslands of North and South America.
