Scelidosauridae 1 . Scelidosaurus Scelidosaurus is an extinct genus of armoured dinosaur from the Early Jurassic period. It was a herbivore that lived in what is now England and Wales. It was one of the earliest large dinosaurs, reaching up to 6 metres (20 ft) in length. Its body was heavily armoured with bony plates, and it had a club-like tail. It is thought to have been an ancestor of the later ankylosaurids.
