Phyllomya volvulus Phyllomya volvulus is a species of freshwater mussel in the family Unionidae. It is found in the Amazon basin in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. The shell of this species is elongated and ovate in shape, with a length of up to 3.5 cm. It is yellowish-brown in color, with a few scattered darker spots. The shell is smooth and glossy, and the inner surface is white. The species is usually found in shallow, slow-moving waters, where it feeds on small particles of organic matter.
