Pseudokermes palmae Pseudokermes palmae is a species of scale insect found in the Caribbean and parts of Central and South America. It is a pest of palms, including coconut palms, and other plants in the family Arecaceae. It feeds on the sap of the host plant, weakening it and causing yellowing of the leaves. The adult female is a small, yellowish-brown insect with a waxy covering, and the male is a small, winged insect. Control of this pest is achieved through the use of insecticides, pruning of affected parts of the plant, and biological control with the use of predatory insects.
