It is native to the Caribbean region and is found on a variety of plants, including coconut palms, banana plants, and other tropical plants. The adult female is a yellowish-brown color and has a rounded body that is covered in wax. It feeds on the sap of the plant and can cause damage to the plant by sucking out the nutrients. The eggs are laid in clusters on the underside of the leaves and the larvae feed on the sap of the plant. The larvae eventually develop into adults and the cycle repeats itself.
