Reverend Joseph the Wonderworker Reverend Joseph the Wonderworker (Russian: Отец Иосиф Чудотворец) is a Russian Orthodox saint who is venerated as a wonderworker. He was born in the Russian city of Smolensk in 1783 and died in 1837. He was a monk at the Monastery of the Transfiguration in Smolensk and is said to have had the gift of healing and prophecy. He is also said to have been able to raise the dead. He is celebrated on August 9 in the Orthodox Church.
