St. Martyr Christina Saint Christina (, ), is venerated as a Christian martyr who died in the 4th century AD. She is the patron saint of millers, metal workers, and people with neurological disorders. Life The details of Christina"s life are not known. According to tradition, she was born in Tyre, Phoenicia, and was the daughter of a pagan nobleman. She was raised as a Christian by her Christian mother. When her father died, Christina refused to marry a pagan and was persecuted by her family for her Christian faith. She was tortured and thrown into a lake, where she died. Veneration The cult of Saint Christina is believed to have originated in the 5th century, and her feast day is celebrated on July 24. Her relics are venerated in the Church of Saint Christina in Rome, Italy. Her cult spread throughout Europe, and she is especially venerated in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In art, Saint Christina is often depicted with a millstone around her neck, as a symbol of her martyrdom. She is also sometimes depicted with a sword, as a symbol of her courage and strength in the face of persecution.
