Acrocanthosaurus 2 Acrocanthosaurus was a large carnivorous dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, approximately 112 to 97 million years ago. It was a theropod dinosaur, meaning it was bipedal and had sharp, curved claws. It was one of the largest theropods of its time, measuring up to 12 meters (39 feet) in length and weighing up to 6 metric tons. Its name means "high-spined lizard" due to the tall neural spines on its vertebrae. It is believed to have been an apex predator, preying on other large dinosaurs such as Tenontosaurus and Sauroposeidon.
