Belle de jour 3 Belle de jour is a French film released in 1967. It stars Catherine Deneuve as Séverine, a young housewife who takes up work as a prostitute in a brothel in Paris. The film is based on the novel by Joseph Kessel and directed by Luis Buñuel. It follows Séverine as she struggles to reconcile her two lives, one as a wife and the other as a prostitute. The film was a critical and commercial success, winning the Palme d"Or at the 1967 Cannes Film Festival and becoming one of the most iconic films of the French New Wave.
