Some well-known members of the Nothrotheriidae family include the giant ground sloth (Megatherium) and the Harlan"s ground sloth (Nothrotheriops). These fascinating creatures went extinct around 10,000 years ago, likely due to a combination of climate change and human hunting pressure.
