Platystrophia _curta Platystrophia curta is a species of brachiopod, a type of marine invertebrate. It is a small, globular shell with a wide umbo and a smooth surface. The surface is usually white, but may be yellow or pink. The shell has two valves, the left valve being slightly larger than the right. The valves are connected by a hinge line and are covered in small, rounded, concentric ridges. The interior of the shell is lined with a thin, white, iridescent layer. Platystrophia curta is found in shallow waters, usually in sandy or muddy substrates. It is found in the western Atlantic, from the Gulf of Mexico to the Caribbean.
