Rhizoecus bolacis Rhizoecus bolacis is a species of mealybug in the family Pseudococcidae. It is found in the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. The species feeds on a variety of plants, including coconuts, bananas, and sugarcane. It is a major pest of coconut palms in the Caribbean. The mealybug is characterized by its white, waxy coating and its long, segmented body. It has two pairs of antennae and a pair of long, thread-like mouthparts. The female mealybug lays eggs in clusters on the underside of leaves and stems. The larvae feed on the sap of the plant and eventually form a white, waxy coating. Control of Rhizoecus bolacis is usually achieved through the use of insecticides or biological control agents.
