Holy Martyr Photinia Svetlana Petrovna Holy Martyr Photinia Svetlana Petrovna (in the world: Svetlana Petrovna Zvereva) was born on October 10, 1956 in the city of Saratov. She was baptized in the Orthodox Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in the city of Saratov. At the age of twenty-one, Svetlana entered the Saratov Theological Seminary, where she studied for two years. After graduating from the seminary, she entered the Saratov Theological Academy. During her studies at the Academy, Svetlana was active in the life of the Church, helping in the service of the clergy, and was known for her sincere faith and spiritual devotion. On August 19, 1981, Svetlana was arrested by the KGB for her faith and participation in religious activities. She was subjected to torture and interrogation, but she refused to renounce her faith and was sentenced to seven years in prison. In prison, Svetlana continued to serve God, praying and reading the Bible, and she became an example for other prisoners. She also wrote letters to her family and friends, encouraging them to remain faithful to God. On April 5, 1988, Svetlana was released from prison, but she was immediately arrested again and sent to a labor camp in the city of Novosibirsk. There
