St. Sergius of Radonezh St. Sergius of Radonezh (1314–1392) was a Russian Orthodox monk and spiritual leader who is revered as a saint in the Eastern Orthodox Church. He is credited with reviving the Russian Orthodox Church and is considered to be one of the most important figures in Russian history. He founded the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, the most important Russian monastery, and is remembered for his wisdom, humility, and piety. He is often depicted in icons wearing a white robe and holding a cross and a book.
